Conservation is a necessary discipline for a disciple of Christ

-
Support
natural landscapes with native vegetation that is suitable for your
climate zone
-
Eradicate invasive non-native species from your property
-
Plant vegetation that will provide sustenance
for wildlife. For example, plant bushes and trees that will supply an
abundance of berries and nuts.
-
During
the winter months, provide plenty of fresh water and seed for the birds.
This can make a difference between survival and death for many bird
species, especially if the area in which you live is characteristic of a
harsh, frosty winter.
-
Provide several feeders that vary in size,
shape, and construction so that you may attract and accommodate a variety
of bird species. However, when feeding wild birds, some guidelines ought
to be followed to decrease the chances of disease transmission in and
between species.
For
additional information on attracting and feeding wild birds as well as
guidelines on how to provide a
healthy bird habitat.
-
Construct a compost pile to produce a natural
soil conditioner or medium for use in vegetable and plant gardens
-
Instead of fertilizing your lawn, allow the
grass clippings to remain. This provides fertilization and is cost
effective
-
Limit the use of pesticides by controlling
pests such as aphids and spider mites by introducing natural predators
such as lady bugs.
-
Make a
conscious decision to conserve water, electricity, gas, food, etc.
-
Recycle
aluminum, newspaper, and glass products
-
Report to the appropriate authorities any
illegal dumping, animal cruelty, harvesting of endangered species from
their original habitat, illegal hunting practices, or any violation of
laws established to protect our endangered species and natural resources
-
Support sound legislative policies by
educating yourselves on past and present laws. Keep up to date with
legislation that is currently before the House, Senate, and Congress on
the floor for debate
